Paul boldly rebuked and cursed Elymas a false prophet who was trying to discourage another man from hearing God’s word. Paul was confident in his position in Christ. He knew who he was and had no doubt. This made it possible for him to say this and for it to take place.
I find at least once a month I have a down time where I doubt my authority in some areas. This is quiet silly, because my position does not change from month to month so why does my perception? The harder the week, the harder I must press into my time with God. Just like a car, the more you drive, the more gas is required. I am not running on empty, but I have not been on a full tank this week either. This is the time when Satan hits me the hardest. When my schedule is busy, I’m tired, felling a bit sick, and work is emotionally draining.
So, what do I do?
1. Stop and recognize the situation.
2. Pray and pray often.
3. Press into the word until my vision is clear.
4. Worship, worship, worship
Confidence is a state of being certain. I am not always sure of myself, but I am confident that my God is never wrong and His promises are true. Therefore, I can be confident that my authority is based on who God is and not me.
Lord, thank you for Your word and for reminding me that You are the same, yesterday, today, and forever. I can be confident in You in all things. Amen
