Are you moldy?

Leviticus 14:39-42 “On the seventh day the priest shall return to inspect the house. If the mildew has spread on the walls, he is to order that the contaminated stones be torn out and thrown into an unclean place outside the town. He must have all the inside walls of the house scraped and the material that is scraped off dumped into an unclean place outside the town. Then they are to take other stones to replace these and take new clay and plaster the house.”

We have all seen mildew, or commonly referred to as mold, on something before. It might have been bread or in the shower, wherever it was it didn’t belong there. Mildew is mold or fungus that is growing in a place with a moisture management problem. Plainly stated there is not enough fresh air flowing.

Okay, so you might be wondering why the science lesson this morning. Well, I was asking God the same question, when He responded, “A bad attitude is like mildew.” Chew on that for a second.

Like mildew, a bad attitude:
· Spreads
· Changes the original appearance of what it is on(or who it is on)
· Smells
· Don’t come off easily
· You must remove all of it for lasting results

The best way to not get a bad attitude in the first place is stay in the right environment. Get a dose of fresh air in God’s presence. Stuffy people are no fun. I know, I can get way too serious. But when I get out, purposely scrap off my bad attitude and throw it away, God can once again declare me clean.

Lord, give me a clean heart and attitude. Show me where I need to let fresh air in and breath on me. Amen.
